DEP44CU - Streamlining The Data Access Request Process

Session Description

Controlling access to data for thousands of active users as it's being developed and consumed within an engineering environment must ensure sufficient safeguards are in place to protect intellectual property. This presentation will outline how Solar Turbines has approached a semi-autonomous access request process using web and ThingWorx technologies.   The path to developing an effective and sustainable strategy involves identifying key aspects such as: understanding the data created (documents, parts, CAD, etc.); access requirements (who authors vs. who consumes the data) and streamlining the access request process (requesting, reviewing and auditing). This presentation will also demonstrate tools Solar Turbines developed to perform auditing activities by non-IT Data Owners without requiring Windchill administrative access.    In addition, group naming conventions and other uses of groups (app authorization, action selections, etc.) will be discussed.
